Public debate on Code of ethical research with children in BiH

The document will soon be presented to the the BiH Council of Ministers

Public debate on the Code of ethical research with children in BiH was held at the start of the week in Sarajevo. The debate was organised by the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees in BiH, and Vesta Association, with the EU funding, within the project „Strengthening the role of CSOs in the monitoring of State Strategy for combating of violence against children in BiH 2011-2014“.

The document which was discussed at the Public debate is a result of months of efforts by the team of experts, and a quality particpatory process that involved all the interested parties, including delegated representatives of relevant institutions of BiH, Federation BIH, Republika Srpska and Brčko District, NGOs, Ombudsman, academic/research community and the media. akademske/istraživačke zajednice, medija. Once it is adopted, as expected, the Code of ethical research will improve and regulate the field of research with children, which is in the best interest of children in BiH and protection of their rights.

Participants were invited to share their comments and suggestions by the beginning of April, in writing. Comments and suggestions will be discussed in a smaller forum, and when adopted, the Ministry will initiate the procedure toward the Council of Ministers at the latest in early May 2012.
